Shalalala, shalalala, shalalala

Sometimes it's really frustrating when you are an a cappella addict. Sometimes I fear my friends and family are suffering from my addiction:
  • I already couldn't make it to one of Martins concerts (with the choir he is singing in) because I was going to a Rock4 concert.
  • I sometimes notice I try to change the subject of a conversation in such a way we'll end up talking about a cappella music. Please people, tell me if I'm irritating...
  • And today I even decided not to meet my friends next Saturday, as I planned to do, but I'll go to a Voice Male concert instead. (And then meet my friends afterwards)
Yes, that's correct: I'm going to Voice Male next Saturday!!!!! :D :D And...... *roll of drums* in the afternoon join an a cappella workshop!! That is so cool!! I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm a little nervous at the same time.... I haven't got a clue what kind of people there will be and part of the workshop will be about beatboxing.... I really can't do that. But... we'll see what happens.

As always, there is a detailed report coming up next week. I don't know when I've got time to write it, but I'll stay up late if I have to.

And girls (if you're reading this): I'll be there about 23:45 :)

To google and to being googled

Amazing what you can find with Google. I've typed my name (first name + surname) in Google quite often, and then you'll find me, but you'll also find my aunt, she's got exactly the same name.
But today I tried >>"wise guys" corine<<. The results are really funny. The Allerletzte Website comes first, then Nini's Forum and her Guestbook, lena's blog and Sarah's blog. Really cool. I only see you won't find my website... mmm...
My site can be found with search engines, but it doesn't happen very often. And when it happens, it's often because of the list of old Montezuma singers. Does anybody know how I can change this? I'm rebuilding my website now anyway....

Girls vs. Boys

My sister Gonneke was here this weekend. On Saturday we went shopping and in the evening we went to the city center to play pool. Remco was also coming with us, so we could play in two teams. Girls vs. Boys. We had a lot of fun and made too many pictures and silly movies.

When boys lose:

When girls win:

By the way, I shouldn't be telling you this, but mmm... i'm silly anyway: We only won this game because they shot the black ball in the pocket....

When I miss the ball (click to enlarge the picture):

Quotes to remember - originals in dutch: (sorry, insiders...)
- >DUH< Geef hier... (>DUH< Give it to me...)
- Ligt je hoofd daar nog? (Is your head still lying there?)
- Totally tutting.

We also watched the movie Dragonfly, which is really beautifull. And we need a strict diet now. Too much chocolate, poffertjes, icecream and more chocolate >.<

To be repeated? Definitely.

How are you feeling today?

  • Frustrated. I blame our car.

  • Happy. I love the internet. I finally found the right table settings for my new website. Which means I've finally managed to write a new table structure (and with that made a start of my new layout).

  • Proud. Because I did it all by myself.

  • Frustrated. More yeah. Because it only works in Firefox. And not in Internet Explorer.... IE sucks.

  • Sad. Because 23.5. is a Tuesday. And Rotterdam is on the other side of the Netherlands, 185 km away.
And for the Dutch people: let's try to make the show at the Luxor Theatre in Rotterdam on May 23rd a real happening. The Oude Luxor is a very nice theatre in the heart of Rotterdam and it would be so nice if we can make it a full house! We have something in stall for you to connect it with our new show, but plans for that have to be worked out yet. But you HAVE to be there..... (from: www.montezuma.nl.)

Please cross your fingers for me..... :/

Our car is having a problem. It doesn't want to start every now and then. It started showing this bad temper about 10 days ago.... So we brought the car to the garage last Saturday. There was probably some dust somewhere on/in the *don't know the english word for this* shoke. Well, so they cleaned it and I thought it was over. This morning I got to work without problems. But going back wasn't that easy. For some reason this car is only showing this problem when I'm going back home. It never showed the problem here in our street, when I wanted to go somewhere. Weird, isn't it? As if it doesn't want to go home with me, but stay at work instead. The opposite of this would make more sense, of course. I wouldn't mind if it shows the problem early in the morning. "Sorry girls (I don't have male collegues ;)), I can't make it to get to work, I'll try again later today, you'll have to spend the day without me. You'll manage, don't you?". Well, no, that's not my way of behaviour, of course ;) ;)
So today, the car didn't want to start, and only after several attempts it started, broke down, started again, broke down again, started again and running really weird, but eventually it kept running. And I got home *pfff...*
Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I'm too dependent on this car... I don't need it on Thursday, so I'll bring the car to the garage on Wednesday after work. Which means it has to function for another two days. And please, let it start without problems.... It's very frustrating when it doesn't want to start. I'm really scared I'll end up somewhere with a car that really doesn't want to go.... :/

Celebrate good times, come on!

YEAH!! We did it!!! Wir haben es geschafft! Nou en of! :D We won the game with 3-1 tonight. FINALLY! The one set we lost, had a 23-25 final score, so we almost had that one as well.
Next wednesday I want exactly the same training as last wednesday! It was worth the sweat and grazed elbows ;)
I'm really happy. I had a great night, and I don't feel sorry for being here in Hengelo, while at the same time -right now- my brother and sister are seeing a Rock4 Queenconcert in Eindhoven. But I don't mind. JUHU!! (ok, just a bit... i wanna be with them!)

We're going down.........

Pfffffffff... Can anybody tell me why we had such a hard and tough volleyball training tonight? Do you think it could have something to do with the fact we lost the previous eight games? First we were in 4th place, now we're in 6th place...

Last Saturday I had to leave the game early, because Martin and I had to go to Münster. When I left, we were ahead with 2-1. But we lost the game with 3-2..... They just can´t do it without me! ;) ;) ;)

But even though today's training was really tiring, I feel great :D :D I love it! Please, let us have a training like this every week!!! It might be helpful as well.

To be continued next Friday, when we have to play a game again. We WILL winn! We WANT to WIN!

*cry*

Oooo no.... I had a haircut yesterday. But the hairdresser cut my hair too short!! I really don't like it *grr* :/ I wanted it just a little bit shorter, but not this short *sigh*. And I was thinking "well, let's have a haircut, because my hair is really getting too long and next Saturday Martin and I are going out (Zuma in Münster!!) and I want my hair to be pretty then". And now it's too short!
The only advantage: In four weeks, when we are going to another Wise Guys concert, it will hopefully have grown just perfectly long enough to be stunning beautiful *G* :D

CCC Teil 2

"In fünfzig kleinen Kugeln aufs Backblech drauf,

Aber was solls....

*wunder*

Heute mal das Deutsche Rezept. *Liedhöre* Man braucht:

WAAAAAAAAS??

to be continued...

Why am I doing this?

Yesterday and today I've been watching the first 16 little movies on www.beginnersphp.co.uk. I understand the things I've been learning there, but what do I need it for?? Well, at least I know the PHP basics now. If I want to watch more movies I have to pay for it :'( and I won't do that... such a pity, because it was such a great tutorial!! Really clear and step by step.

I'm working on a new version of my a cappella website, it's going to be frameless. I want it to be frameless because my website is often being found in a search engine, but when it's loading from there, you will only see the content part, not the menu part. So people who find my website through a search engine will never be able to see more of my website. For instance, they will just see this.

So, in my new website I'm going to use a table instead of frames, because this will solve that problem. But, by using a table I found the problem of linking pages from the menu in the left cell to the main cell in the center. I should solve that problem with PHP, but unfortunately I can't do it with those 16 movies I've seen. That's why "Why am I doing this?" Why did I watch these 16 movies? *sigh*
Luckely Martin told me how to use PHP in my table, and now, if I click something in the menu on the left, the content will appear in the main cell. Problem solved, with help from Martin.

So I guess me learning PHP is ending right here. If I want to know a specific function I will ask Martin ;)
Though it is quite fun to learn to echo
echo "My name is ".$name." and I am ".$age." years old";
and
echo ($num == 7) ? "exactly seven" : ($num > 7) ? "more than seven" : "less than seven";
I mean, it really does look quite complicated, doesn't it?

I think I should focus on CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) now. I'm using CSS already, but I can make more of it in my new design. CSS enables a webmaster to change layout very easily. For instance, if I want to change the color of my text, or change the font, I only have to change it in my CSS, and it will automatically change on the entire website. But, there's more, and I think I should explore that.

Sorry, am I being too complicated?

Sometimes some of my friends tell my I chose the wrong studies. Why didn't I study something like computer science?? It would save me a lot of time right now! ;)
No...... I'm really very, very happy with my job. And to be honoust, I'm glad my internet adventures are just a hobby.

Good night, sleep well :-*

Rock4 fever

The Rock4 virus has stroke me. I'm having a Rock4 fever. It's a good 'illness', actually. Last Saturday I visited my second Queenshow, and it was great. I loved it and afterwards we chatted with Nico and Luc N. And we found out we have got only one chance to see their "Pure" show. First I thought I was gonna miss it anyway, because according to Nico (or Luc?) it would be at the 10th of March (have to play volleybal and I just can't be missed), but, it's not! It's at the 18th of February.
So today I'm trying to get tickets, but that's not as easy as I thought it would be. First I called the theater. But it looks like it's not a real theater. The woman I spoke to couldn't tell me if there were still tickets available, and she couldn't sell me tickets either. She told me tickets can be bought at some shops in that specific town, but that's about over an hour driving away. So she gave me the number of someone who might be able to get me tickets but *grrrrrrrr* this man is not answering his phone! I'll try again at the end of the afternoon, and tonight, maybe he'll be there. I'm really hoping I'll get the tickets!
Why didn't I visit "Pure" before? Well.... somehow it just didn't happen. The previous "Pure" was on Martins mothers birthday (couldn't miss that..), the ones before that were in Belgium, Germany and Austria. And to be honoust; they didn't perform "Pure" so often in the past year.
The Queenshow will be in the theaters for another year. I can recommend it to you! From September'06 they will also be playing their new show. I know what it's called, but I don't know if I'm allowed to tell you....it's not even on the Rock4 site.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Live aus Köln

Hallo Welt!!

Leider.

Lets talk in English, I don´t know who might be reading this. The Wise Guys concert yesterday couln´t take place because Clemens was ill. Really a pity.

I arrived in Köln at 12.50, walked down the stairs and there I met Dän, Sari, Ferenc und Eddi (four Wise Guys, only Clemens wasn´t there). What a coincidence, don´t you think? I smiled and said "Bis gleich!" and then Dän said the concert couldn´t take place, because Clemens was ill. I thought he was making a joke, but he was serious. He said "Du bist von Holland angereist gekommen, oder?" So he had recognised me :) "Es tut mir wirklich leid..." Well, it´s true, when one of them is ill, he´s ill.... can´t help it. Pity, but ´we´ Wise Guys Fans will just say *cheng cheng* and move on. Things like this happen..

But, I still had a nice time in Cologne. I met a lot of people I know from the net, and it was very nice to see them again. In the evening there was a PayTV concert. PayTV is a band from Hamburg. (They are the Rockhousebrothers) We had a really great time with them.

Today I have got plenty of time to do things before my train leaves again. But it´s so damn cold outside!!! I´ve already visited the Dom Church again. Pretty, but not very warm inside as well. I´ve had a hot cup of tea and went shopping afterwards. I visited the Mediamarkt, and bought an old Wise Guys album (Alles im Grünen Bereich), because I don´t have the original. And it was only 10 euros. Then I bought some postcards and I searched for a shop to buy Blendi toothpaste. The kids at work were asking for it last week haha. I found a DM, and found the Blendi.

After the shopping I was cold and the internet cafe had finally openend, so now I´m sitting here, checking messages and writing things in Guestbooks, Forums and my blog :D I want to make a walk afterwards, in the Altstadt and by the Rhein. And then I think, it´s time to go home.

And then, I can talk Dutch again. Though, I must say *stolz bin*, my German was pretty ok this weekend. I think I´m learning :D *YEAH!!!*

New pictures, or: Martins creations

Sorry for those who don't know our home and don't know what it looked like, I didn't make pictures from "before". Here are some pictures the way it looks like now, I promised my mom to put them online today, so here they are.

First of all, the closets in the guest room look like this now. The dark brown doors of the old closet have been plastered with nice fake wood-plastic and together with the new closet it looks a lot prettier. (a picture with the dark brown doors can be found here)

Next, Martin has built himself a little bedside table, because he's always been using some old boxes as a bedside table (among them an antique Word Perfect box) ;)

By the way, you can enlarge all the pictures by clicking on them. I'm only putting the small versions here, because there are quite a few pictures.

In the computer room, Martin has built cd shelves, next to our bookcase. First, all these cd's were on the shelves in the bookcase, which left less space for books. Now, we can put all our books in the bookcase. You can reach the light button through the cd shelves now :)

There are two more things to do now. First, we are going to put a nice shelve above the bed in the guestroom, and second we have to reorganise and put everything in the right place...... It will still take some more days....see for yourself:

Well mom, what do you think?

PHP....

We're still tidying up. Martin has been very busy the past few days. It's going to be so pretty and tidy when this all is finished! Right now Martin is building cd-shelves upstairs (pictures are coming soon!!). In the mean time I'm trying to learn some PHP principles. I want to renew my website, get a new design, and I want to use PHP as well. I want to get rid of my terrible frameset, that's for sure. I've tried to write some simple scripts this afternoon, by using an online tutorial, and I was amazed of what I could make. That was chapter one of the tutorial.
Chapter two says: "Thus far, the scripts we've discussed have been pretty dumb." OK... thanks a lot. But, I'm not giving up yet. Right now I'm struggling through chapter two, but I still don't understand much of it... :/
I think I'm going to help Martin upstairs... maybe he can help me out with chapter two later on today... ;)
