Holiday again!

Our traditional visit at the Shakespeare theater in Diever (NL) took place last weekend. They played "As you like it" and it was fantastic. For me it was the 13. time to see a play here. The atmosphere in the theater is indescribable, the wooden seats terrible but suitable, the play so funny and the acting really professional. Because of the nice weather we went camping for the weekend and that was great. I love the campsite there, because I have many good memories from it and it felt like a holiday again. This time, we even brought our personal cook ;) Thanks again Remco, for the bacon and eggs for breakfast!

Maybe there have been days I was a better company to the others, but I blame Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I just couldn't stop reading... by day and at night...

The campfires on Friday and Sunday night were also really good. Pity we didn't bring marshmallows though. Although a holiday to Greece is beautiful, nothing can beat building your own campfire and sit at it all night having fun with others.

On Monday night we came back, because we had our first Amusing Hengelo Festival Organisation meeting. Today I had to work and when I came home I found 24 new e-mail messages in my mailbox, exclusive spam [sigh]. So if people are waiting for an anwser, they'll have to wait a little longer because tonight I have another appointment, tomorrow I need to work and I didn't even finish my book yet!!
Real life's begun again. Holiday's over...

Time!

This week I started working again. My holiday is over... But today I had a day off (I love having a part-time job) and mainly because the work for the festival hasn't started yet, it also really felt like having a day off, because I had time. Yes, I had time! I love it when I have time. I have time to read, for instance. Right now I'm reading the fourth book within four weeks. I guess things will change quickly as soon as everything is back to normal after the school holidays.

But, because I can't read all day and because I want to do something usefull as well, I decided it was about time to tidy up my desk in the computer room. It's a pity I didn't make a "before" picture actually, so you could see the difference. It was really, really messy. I could put all the papers and stuff and mess back on the desk and make a picture of it, but then I would have done all my work for nothing. So I'm terribly sorry, but I'll give you the "after" picture only:

See the empty file holders on the right? They're empty because I bought them today hoping they'll help me to keep the desk tidy.
The only thing I shouldn't do when I'm sitting at my desk right now, is looking over my shoulder to the other corner of the room. It still looks like this:

Well, there'll be time for that corner some other day. Hopefully... Tonight there's only me, my book and my cup of tea. And Martin of course, with the constant roaring of airplanes from his flight simulator which is his sign of having time ;)

Greek salad

Because we are feeling in a Greek mood and because we didn't feel like extensive cooking, we decided to have a Greek salad with some fried fries for dinner today. Doesn't it look tasty?

And now, I'm going to see if the pretty little ovenproof dishes I bought on Kefalonia are really ovenproof. For some reason, I'm a little scared they aren't. So I'll make a little apple pie or something to check. And then later, if they are proven ovenproof, I can make moussaka or little Kefalonian meat pies! :P

We're home!

Hallo everybody, we're back home again. Kefalonia is such a beautiful island and we would love to go back again one day (tomorrow?). We've fallen in love with the nice people we met there, the beautiful nature and the very good food. The temperature here in the Netherlands is terrible and it's raining! I can only hope the summer still has to come, because we are planning to go camping at the end of August.

Right now, 1100 pictures need to be sorted out and some of them will be put online in the following days. Just be patient ;)
E-mails will be answered in the following days as well.

One teaser picture to make you longing for more: (click to enlarge)

72 Stunden

Joho! Savvy?

Sushi party - part 1

Last week, we made sushi with friends. We've done it before, but it's a long time ago. Because not everybody could view all the pictures, I cut the post in three... maybe it helps...

In the kitchen, the ingredients are being prepared:

In the meantime, Martin is installing Linux on our new server...

...and little Daniel is crawling on the floor. The empty bottle is fascinating him. It won't take long before he can walk:

Making sushi is quite a lot of work. Especially when there are 10 people for dinner.

Sushi party - part 2

Daniels daddy Aryan is helping out a lot.

When he wakes up later, he is expecting the sushi to be finished, but we have to disappoint him... 2kg of rice makes a lot of sushi and is a lot of work. We're pretty scared there won't be enough food..... ;)

Sushi party - part 3

Isn't it pretty?

The tricky thing about sushi is the sauce you eat it with. Soja sauce and wasabi. Wasabi is a greenisch Ogre snot likely paste which is very, very, very hot. Today we had two different kinds of wasabi. Left, the wasabi powder dissolved in water, right the original Japanese wasabi. The original turned out to be much, much hotter.

The fun thing about eating sushi, is a couple of men who are showing off by putting a lot of wasabi on the sushi. Today, only one of them almost choke in it. Don't try this at home ;)

Welcome to the summer

Weekend!! :) Nothing special on the agenda, we're at home and can enjoy 2 free days. I love it. Last week I got scared I might get bored, so I volunteered to summarize the 70 or 80 e-mails with reactions and evaluationforms from our festival. Pretty nice job, because we are given a lot of compliments and the criticism and suggestions are all correct and as expected. Next Monday we'll evaluate the whole gang and then we'll see how the third edition next year is going to be organised.
Boyz Nite Out-CD is playing, tea, cookies and fresh pineapple *yumm* within arm's reach, no stressed feeling because there's nothing else this weekend that needs to be done (except for some housekeeping...) - what else do I want? (Fly to München by chopper right now!)
Ok, break's over. 17 more e-mails to go :)

Open Days Airforce

Yesterday we visited Airbase Volkel to watch several flight shows and airplanes. It was really great! A little visual impression:

13 F16's flying in formation:

The Turkish Stars (NF-5):

Patrouille de France (Alphajet):

Unfortunately the Patrouille de France had to stop their show because of an upcoming thunderstorm:

And after the many, many decibels we exposed our ears to, we visited an a cappella festival today. I'll write my report tomorrow. Any wrong observations are due to my current damaged sense of hearing ;)

Stolz

Counting down to V-Day

It's almost time, the vocal invasion of Hengelo is only less than 36 hours away. More than 100 choirs are coming to town! I still can't believe it! In the coming 36 hours there are a lot of little things to be done and we have to-do-lists lying around everywhere ;) Tonight we crisscrossed Hengelo by car to check the main approaching roads to the city because of our "sign-assignment" and we discovered a traffic diversion! Luckily it's not that bad and with only one little adaptation we can avoid people from getting lost, but at first sight it did scare us for a moment. On Saturday morning we'll place the signs before most people even wake up. We're going to have a long day... :)
Lots of other things are to be done tomorrow as well. I'm glad my weekend has already started. But let's get some sleep first. I hope I'll get a little more sleep than last night. For some reason I have been dreaming about cars and parkingplaces and signs and about a panicking chor because there was no audience. Weird... I usually never remember my dreams. I also dreamed about diving, but unfortunately there were jellyfish all over the place and one of them woke me up real suddenly. Then, I couldn't sleep anymore, but it was only 3am! My mind was spinning and I couldn't make it stop thinking about the festival. I'm going crazy! Hahahaha. Oh, I'm looking forward to it so much!!

*Musik*bitte warten Sie*Musik*bitte warten Sie*
Sie: Öhm... moment mal
Ich: Ok
*Musik*bitte warten Sie*Musik*bitte warten Sie*

Also los!

Was man nicht alles tut...

Erstens: Vergiss diesen Eintrag hier. Leider.
